Tonight I went to Furio with some lady friends to enjoy the Martini & Manicures night. For $10 you get a yummy cocktail and a decent manicure!
The food was yummy too... and they played Thievery Corporation for most of the night, which was perfect. It's fun being a girl!
Oh, PS: the title of this post is the name of the nail polish I chose.

Tracks you may like
Through random discovery I've come across some songs that I've been digging:
"Day Too Soon (Mock & Toof Edit)" = Sia
"Mercy" = Duffy
"Spreadin' Rythm Around (Lady Bug vs. Lady Day RR Remix)" = Billie Holiday
"Yellowstoned" = Merlune

Tonight I was out with some friends for dinner, and as we were heading to the restaurant this cloud opened up and unleashed this incredibly strong (and cold!!!) rain!
Before the rain started, it was easily 105-110. After a few minutes of rainfall, the temperature dropped at least 25-30 degrees. It was so incredible! There was probably 5 minutes or so of rain, then it completely stopped. Within an hour the ground was completely dry again. Amazing!

Bill Moyers and Economic Inequality
Holly Sklar, author of Raise the Floor, was on Bill Moyers Journal discussing how driving down working class wages is bad for the economy overall.

Vegas, Baby, VEGAS!!
I just got back from a great weekend in Vegas! It was a perfect time to go; I just wrapped up a challenging (but fun) assignment at work and was 100% free and clear to do whatever the hell I wanted! Woo hoo!
Also... I got my first paycheck on Friday. It was effing huge and oh so glorious. Since I'm already $45K in the red with law school loans, I plan to be frugal and reasonable this summer despite the huge payouts every two weeks.
However... a girl can only be frugal for so long, so I decided F it: I'm buying a Coach purse in Vegas! I found the perfect one... my heart leapt when I saw the lining:
It's so divine.
Vegas was great... I ate too much yummy food and had an abundance of alcohol. The Sapphire & Tonic at Gallagher's was by far one of the best I've ever had made for me by a bartender.
The first night I did really well on the penny slots at Paris. I put in $20 and it lasted me 3 hours! At one point I was up $27 but then I lost it of course (so much dashed hope there in Sin City). I did get three free SoCo & Cokes while I was sitting there (it tastes like cherry coke, I'm not kidding. it's dangerous).
Saturday I bought the aforementioned handbag and walked around several casinos drinking a margarita out of this. I could've opted for a plastic eiffel tower-shaped container for my margarita but by my estimate it contained the equivalent of 4 margaritas and honestly I didn't want to get that shitfaced at 1pm.
On Sunday we had brunch at the Bellagio and it was delish! Thank god we got there right when the line was short... the food was so good and so amazing. Thanks to Ren for the tip!
Here are some pics!

The "O" Theatre at Bellagio ("O" is great but I think I liked "Ka" better):

I have to stay at the Paris next time... it's awesome:

How many Hummers have you seen lately?
I've been noticing that there are barely any on the road anymore... Interesting!
This was from November 2005: Oh how I wish the prices were as "high" as they are shown in this video! Sonofabitch!

Old School Pics of the Day (8)
Karen found these pics on her computer today after clearing off her laptop in preparation for her maternity leave!
These are 2003-era snapshots that were taken at Peachpit for some reason that now escapes me. I think the idea was that they would be used for the company's website, but that never happened. Nonetheless, they are so cute!
Karen is now married and awaiting the birth of her new child (gender TBD)!
Ren is now working at the fabulous purveyor of the loveliest coffee table books this side of the Rockies, UC Press.
Suzie is now married with a lovely little son and is freelance editing! I have so many memories of cracking up with Ms. Q in this cubicle... you have no idea.
Yay! Miss you ladies!!! xoxo
