As I write this, I'm sipping a cocktail* in a real martini glass savoring it and pondering how much I loved the Sex and the City movie. If you liked the TV show, you will like the film (and, obviously, if you loved the TV show you should love the film). It's great, hilarious, emotional, perfect.
I wish I could have seen it with my closest gal friends (remember our SATC nights?) but I was thinking about y'all nonetheless.
*In true Macgyver fashion, I pieced together the closest version of a Cosmo my fridge and pantry could produce. Here's my recipe which you should like:
Fill a shaker 3/4 full of ice.
Add 1 part Ketel One vodka.
Add the juice of one lime.
Add 1/2 part of Izze Sparkling Pomegranate Juice
Add 1/2 part of Triple Sec
Shake vigorously, then pour into a martini glass. Gulp.

California vacay
After finishing up my first year on May 10 I've been doing mostly nothing, and it's been incredibly divine.
I spent the first few days decompressing (including getting a haircut, highlights and my eyebrows waxed - FINALLY), before driving to the VTA with Frankels.
I then flew up to Oakland for a few days to attend the baby shower for Karen & Denis, whose baby ("Baby Bruno") is due in June. They are keeping the gender a mystery but the consensus is BOY. Sadly, tho, "Bruno" will not be his name.
The first night I was in town we ate dinner at Townhouse, one of my all-time favorite Bay Area restaurants. After two of their perfect mojitos and some garlic fries I was loving life. YUM.
Karen and Suzie hosted the shower at Karen's new place, an adorable cottage in Oakland. The weather was perfect (70s) we had a yummy lunch outside under one of the several trees in the yard... very California. It was awesome and while I had a lot of wine, I didn't get drunk. I think. (?)
On my last day I stopped by Peachpit and got to see several people I hadn't seen in ages. It was great! I wish I had more time to chat with people... maybe next time.
I flew back to SoCal for a few more days in Ventura... I slept in, shopped, ate out, and saw two movies. Perfect! One of the movies was Iron Man, which I LOVED! The other was Indiana Jones, which was a disappointment. Oh well!
Now I'm back in AZ, getting ready to start my summer job. I'm nervous about it, but excited too. It should be great!

Trailer for new J.J. Abrams TV show
From the boy genius who brought you Alias and Lost comes "Fringe":
Here's a little quip from AICN:
Here's a little quip from AICN:
What if somebody at ABC said, “Y’know, J.J., instead of exploring Sydney’s relationship with her boring fucking half-sister for two seasons, how about digging a little deeper into this Milo Rambaldi business?”

One martini after another
So tonight I checked out Pink Martini in Scottsdale with a friend (cellisimo). They were incredible; they played my favorite song among other favorites and beauties. It was awesome to see them under the stars... and the weather was very mild. I think it was in the 60s during the concert. Lovely!
After, we went to AZ88 for drinks and dessert. The "Golden Gate Butter Rum Cake" (if that is what it was called) was incredible and the two Sidecar martinis knocked me on my ass. I shouldn't even be typing at this point.

Indy 4 Trailer
I know these are quick cuts, but how does Harrison Ford still look so good? I'm nerd-a-licious for saying so, but I'm really excited to see this.

Remember mix tapes?
Remember how they used to be a big deal? Technology is great, yes.
But there was really something special about spending the time and effort to make a perfectly-crafted mix tape. It showed you cared.

Should I cancel my home phone?
Honestly I don't know why I have it. I think because it's essentially free when packaged with my internet and cable service through Cox.
But I recently changed my telephone number because the lovely couple who had it before seem to be in hiding from debt collectors. The Marbles (yes, that's their name) must be up to their ears in arrears. The latest round of calls (which prompted me to change the number) involved live people (often it's just a computer) that are looking for them, and then (pleasantly) ask me if I have any unsecured debt I want to get rid of? Umm, no, fuck you very much. Bye!
So, I changed my number. Then, the calls started for Brandon; Alltel's friendly computer was telling me that he needed to pay his wireless bill. I was able to google my new number and find the guy's name and address. Based on this I was able to access his account information. He owes over $300.
It's nice when mofos don't pay their bills and then when the creditors start calling they simply change their number. Is the idea that if the debt collectors stop calling, the debt goes away? Is that analogous to if a tree falls over in the forest with no one around, it might not make a sound? Sonofabitch.
